Our apologies to those who came by earlier to check for updates – it has been a busy week and this is quite an overdue entry. This is the last week of our second trimester! We move into our third next week – time really flies! Our last gynae visit was on Friday. Dr Wong says baby is doing just great! She is gaining the right amount of weight and has been very active. We were rather worried before that coz’ baby’s favourite position at all our previous scans was an arced one (kind of like an acrobatic position at the top of the womb). We have been talking to her to position her head downwards since five weeks ago. She’s a good girl! Her head is now down. : ) Dr Wong also told Mummy that she can slow down her weight gain. Haha…it’s now plus 2kg per month – nothing more. Anyway, Mummy has been having bad heartburn episodes at night these days so she can’t really eat a lot for now.
This week marks Persis’ first week back in school. Baby hasn’t woken up that early for a long time already but she is adapting well. She kicks every time Mummy wakes to go to school. Because it’s the end of the semester (and because she is going away again in August to deliver her little girl), Persis has not been given any fixed class. She has been doing relief for lower Primary classes and she has been reading and reading and reading to the little ones. Baby can probably remember the words to some of the books already. Persis found out that teaching at the lower Primary is not that scary after all (though she still finds joy in going into a P6 class). The little ones are super adorable. They say things like, “Mrs Koh, is there a baby in there? (pointing at her tummy) I would like to see the baby!” Yes, baby’s getting quite a bit of attention. The P6 prefects would whisper amongst themselves and discuss if Persis is pregnant – to which she will respond, “Yes, I am pregnant, it’s quite obvious, isn’t it?” She has also been getting many handshakes and congratulations from her colleagues who did not know that she is pregnant before she left for her course in Jan. Thank you all for the well wishes! Thank God too for excellent co-leaders who ran the department when Persis was away for her course! It was a good time of rest and enrichment.
Papa will be bringing a group of students to Shandong, China this weekend to the next. The wifey and baby are so going to miss him. We decided to spend some time together on Tuesday – went to watch “Thor”, had dinner and stocked up on more larger-sized working clothes for Mummy. The clothes we got previously are getting way too tight, especially at the tummy area. Papa says to get larger ones so that baby can be comfortable. We did just that.
Besides reading stories to baby, Papa has started playing classical pieces to her on the piano. We were amazed that she kicked only to Papa’s playing and not to music played from the CD. Mummy says she has taste – she likes live music. Papa will have more time during the June holidays to play for his daughter.
We are excited as we journey into the last stage of our pregnancy. Thank you all for your concern and prayers. Will keep you guys updated!
